   Place Jewelers

Several years ago, the Phantom's mother was looking for someone to do some repair work on her grandmother's diamond.  She wouldn't take the ring to just anyone, as it was very old and of course, very important to her.  She took the ring to Place Jewelers in Apponaug.  Since that day the Phantom has heard nothing but high praise about the quality of their work and the reasonable pricing.

When the Phantom lost an accent diamond from a wedding band a few weeks ago, it was clear where the ring needed to be taken.

Upon arriving at the store, the Phantom was pleased to find an "Old Fashioned" jeweler.  No high tech security, no over the top displays, just a warm, welcoming feeling.  The Phantom's children also took the trip to the jewelers, and while they weren't impressed with the atmosphere, they fell in love with the two "Security" dogs.  When one of the dogs rolled over to have her belly rubbed, the Phantom family knew they had come to the right place.

When Rod came out, the Phantom handed over the ring.  Although it was a little traumatic to let go of the ring, his confident manner filled the Phantom with ease.  The Phantom was informed that the ring would be ready in about a week.  The Phantoms left the store feeling confident knowing the ring was in the hands of a professional.

When the Phantom went back to pick up the ring, the result of the repair and cleaning far exceeded expectation.  The ring looked amazing, as good as the first day it was slipped on the Phantom's finger.  However, the biggest shock came when Rod informed the Phantom of the repair cost.  How could such high quality craftsmanship come at such a reasonable price?

Place Jewelers is high quality, reasonable prices, and most notably, pride in the craftsmanship.  The Phantoms are Place Jewelers costumers for life now.  All the Phantoms' friends and family will hear about them as well, since they are truly a gem!

With all the talk of the new and improved Target in the Warwick Mall, the Phantoms decided to check it out for themselves.

Right away, the Phantoms were amazed at the size of the store. It was already filled with customers of all sorts, only a couple weeks after opening. The Phantoms liked the new “funky” carriages and the “new store” smell of the store.

The Phantoms checked out the sunglasses, the clothes, and even the frozen food section.

After all that shopping the Phantoms sat down for a refreshing cup of coffee at the Starbucks located in the Target.

The Phantoms had a nice trip to the Warwick Mall and the new Target store and plan on going back very soon.

   Warwick Mall - Food Court

The Phantoms recently took a trip to the Warwick Mall located conveniently on Bald Hill Road.

They checked out the replica of the Independence Man that sits atop the State House in Providence before entering through Macy’s.

After exploring the endless variety of stores the Phantoms found themselves unbelievably hungry and decided to head to the food court for lunch.

It was hard to choose where to eat from because there were so many great restaurants there, but the Phantoms knew they didn’t have time to sit down at one of the great restaurants like Chelo’s or Newport Creamery.

The Phantoms decided to split up so everyone could get whatever it was they were craving and met back up near the cleverly sculpted animal topiaries.

The Red Sox game was on so the Phantoms picked a table where they could see the huge television located at the middle of the food court.

Before leaving the Phantoms watched the little kids on the carousel remembering what it was like to be flying up on the pretty horse or scary dragon.

The Phantoms will be returning to Warwick Mall very soon to enjoy another great meal.

The Phantoms have been very busy, working hard striking different businesses and wanted to have a little fun.  They decided they would strike at Monster Mini Golf in Warwick.

After facing the scary darkness when first entering, the Phantoms were welcomed into a glow-in-the-dark world.  Everything looked like it had been colored in with highlighters and even the Phantoms clothing was glowing.

Before golfing the Phantoms wanted to play some arcade games. They won tickets, which they used to get cool prizes.  The Phantoms wanted to save up some tickets too so they could try to win one of the big stuffed animals.

The Phantoms wanted to start golfing so they went to get their glow-in-the-dark clubs and balls and headed to hole one.

By the eighteenth hole the Phantoms had seen many ghosts and ghouls and monsters, but the scariest by far was the eighteenth hole.

The Phantoms had a great time playing mini golf and plan to return every time they want to have a little fun.

The Phantom

   Macy's

The Phantoms were on the move again, this time with one goal in mind-to find the perfect dress and the glamorous accessories to go along with it.

The Phantoms were drawn to Macys by the bright read sign that hangs on the side of Warwick Mall. Macy’s was bustling with costumers of all different ages.

The dress department was not hard to spot at all and the Phantoms were amazed at the selection of dresses. There were all sorts of different colors, styles, and brands to pick from. How could anyone chose just one dress? After trying on numerous amounts of dresses, they picked out a small yellow summer dress that reminded the Phantoms of a ripe lemon.

The Phantoms had the dress now it was on to the accessories! The Phantoms were overwhelmed by amount of shoes to pick from. The Phantoms, without any trouble at all, found a pair of white high heels that matched the dress perfectly.

With a dress and shoes in hand, the Phantoms were off to the jewelry section and in minutes had a necklace and a pair of earrings.

The Phantoms paid for their new wonderful dress and accessories.

The Phantoms had a fun time shopping at Macys and now had a complete outfit and all for an affordable price too!

The Phantoms were driving around looking for somewhere to go and saw a sign for the Complements Art Gallery.  They wanted some new artwork for their homes so they went in to take a look around.

Upon entering the Phantoms were greeted by a friendly dog and the owner of the gallery. He showed them the framing area where hundreds of different frames were hung on the wall. Then the Phantoms explored the gallery.

There were beautiful paintings filling the walls, as well as many different sculptures scattered about.  The Phantoms favorite painting was one of a little girl that catches your attention the moment you walk in the room.

One of the Phantoms decided to buy an abstract painting for their bedroom. The Phantoms thanked the owner and said bye to the dog before leaving with their artwork. They’ll be sure to go back anytime they need a new piece to brighten up there homes.

The Phantom

   Cold Stone Creamery

The Phantom has struck again and it was a delicious experience. Walking into Cold Stone Creamery is a “treat” in it self.

There were customers oohing and aahing over the cones and cups of ice cream they had chosen. We were looking forward to seeing the choices of ice creams and flavors that were available on the menu board.

My associate and I found it difficult to make a decision, we wanted to try them all but we will have to make many more visits to the creamery to accomplish this (this will not be a burden).

We decided one would have a smoothie and the other a cup; both of the choices were great. They have so many great combinations of fruits, nuts, chocolate, and sauces we decided we have to return and go through the menu one at a time. We did notice a gym next door but that’s another review.

The Phantoms had an enjoyable ride to Block Island aboard the Block Island Ferry but the return trip was even better.

Megan from the Block Island Ferry took the Phantoms to meet the captains, Jordan and Joe. The cabin was comfortable and Jordan and Joe were happy to have a little extra company for the trip back.

The Phantoms were a little timid at first. They didn’t want to be the reason for causing the Ferry to switch routes accidentally by hitting some of the instruments! The captains assured them they would be fine.

The view of the ocean from the cabin was indescribable. The cabin was filled with many instruments used to help the captains bring those on the Ferry safely back to land. The Phantoms had many questions about the instruments and life as a captain.

Jordan and Joe were happy answer the Phantoms questions and even let one Phantom sit in the captains chair… What an exciting thrill!

For those traveling on the Ferry, the ride aboard is still a wonderful experience. Patrons are able to stand or sit on three levels. The top level was a Phantom favorite because they were able to enjoy the sun and the fantastic view of the ocean and land (once they got close enough).

The Phantoms will definitely be traveling aboard the Block Island Ferry again in the very near future.

And thanks to their new found friends, Jordan, Joe, and Megan -  the Phantoms are considering a career change to become a captain aboard the Block Island Ferry!!!

The Phantom

   Something Fishy, Inc.

The Phantoms found Something Fishy, Inc. (SFI), with ease - thanks to the huge sign in front of a great looking Koi pond which welcomes customers to their retail store.

Before entering the store, the Phantoms visited the right side of the building to see the Koi fish for sale as well as the aquatic plants available for your own pond!

Upon entering, the Phantoms were welcomed  by the friendly staff which included Jessica and Ryan, as well as another pond.

The front room of the store was very organized and the Phantoms found a great selection of fish tanks for both freshwater and salt water fish.

The Phantoms also learned that the saltwater fish are usually the more colorful of the two.

The SFI staff member then brought the Phantoms to the second room which is also called the fish room.

The Phantoms were excited to see all of the colorful fish and even saw a sea horse! They saw many little Nemos swimming around!

The Phantoms felt like they could spend hours at SFI! They even went home with a blue Beta fish!

Kidz Kastle made the Phantoms want to be kids again! The building that has been turned into a kids wonderland!

Many different play rooms welcomed the kids including a grocery store area and a classroom perfect for working on those A, B, C's.

The Phantoms decided to tryout the dress up area but unfortunately, the costumes and sparkly high heels were a little too small.

Next to the dress up area, was a karaoke machine and stage. The Phantoms couldn't help themselves -  the Phantoms performed a few songs from Hannah Montana which got the kids really rockin!

While they were singing the bubble machine caught the Phantoms eye!

Kidz Kastle is a great place to take your children on a hot or rainy day. They have so many different options. The Phantoms were even able to relax and enjoy a great movie at the Kidz Kastle movie theater.

The Phantoms thought Kidz Kastle was a great place for kids!

The Phantom

   The Flower Girls

What could be better than brightening someone's day with a dozen Roses or some brightly colored Gerber Daisies? The Phantoms decided to answer that question by heading to The Flower Girls which is located conveniently close to the Central Rhode Island Chamber.

The sign made it easy to spot the location of this unique gift and flower shop paradise. Both doors were opened beckoning for customers to come in and feel welcomed. The Phantoms like that the doors were open because it gave the illusion that Tiffany, the owner, was expecting them.

The store is uniquely decorated with flowers, handmade  jewelry and other one- of-a-kind gifts. The color assortment of Roses was unbelievable to the Phantoms! Gorgeous Rose colors of purples, pinks, peaches, reds and yellows created a colorful mosaic of the refrigerator where the beautiful flowers are housed.

The Phantom's purchased a dozen purple Roses and were pleased with both the price and display. The Phantoms will definitely be visiting The Flower Girls again very soon.

Being a working professional during the warm summer months can sometimes be challenging.  With all this great weather we have been having the Phantoms were missing the schools out for the summer days of their youth.

To fix their summer blues they decided to go for a bite to eat and some musical entertainment provided by Chelo’s on the Water.

The Phantoms had the opportunity to sit in the dinning room inside or outside which overlooks the water and entertainment stage. Being such a beautiful evening, the Phantoms opted to dine outside.

The wait staff was very friendly and brought the Phantoms their drinks quickly. They also answered all questions the Phantoms had about their meal selections and were happy to double checked with the cook about a food allergy one of the Phantoms had.

Yum! The food was fantastic and able to satisfy the Phantoms hunger – but of course the Phantoms had room for desert…. there’s always room for desert!

The Phantoms had an enjoyable dinner at Chelo’s on the Water and definitely plan on coming back again soon!

Caster's Bicycles and Fitness

The Phantoms decided it would be a great idea to bring bikes to the RI Chamber Block Party. Unfortunately, our Phantom reviewers still had bikes with training wheels and didn't want their colleagues to laugh at them - so they stopped at Caster's.

Caster's was bustling with customers - some for bike tune-ups, others trying on bike apparel, and the Phantoms - in the market for adult bikes!

The staff was very friendly and greeted the Phantoms with open arms. One staff member asked if he could help the Phantoms with anything. Apparently, they looked a little lost but it was only because Caster’s had a great selection!

The Phantoms had heard a lot of great things about Reed Caster, the owner, and asked the staff member if they could speak to him about trading in their training wheels for real adult bikes. Reed was with a customer making sure his bike was tuned to perfection.

The Phantoms saw Reed take the bike for a quick lap around the parking lot just to make sure it was a smooth ride for the customer.

After finishing, Reed welcomed the Phantoms and took them around the store and showed them a great selection of bikes. Since the Phantoms travel in a pair at all times, they decided to purchase a two-seater!

Caster's has been a part of Rhode Island history since 1919.  Three generations of Casters have helped to create a wonderful tradition - the family owned business.

The Phantoms had a pleasant experience and they are looking forward to the RI Chamber Block Party and the opportunity to show off their new bike!

With the Fourth of July just a few days away, the Phantoms decided it would be a great idea to brighten their smiles for the weekend photo shoot. The Phantoms knew this weekend would be full of family, friends, fireworks, great food, and of course many flashing cameras. They wanted to look their best for their close up!

For this important visit, the Phantoms decided to take their review outside of Warwick and head to Coventry Dental on Route 3 in Coventry. An employee of the chamber had raved about the staff at Coventry Dental so the Phantoms decided to place their trust in her.

After a short drive, the Phantoms approached a building decorated with colorful patriotic decorations. The Phantoms were pleased. The splash of red, white, and blues eased their anxiety of going to the dentist (yes, our Phantoms are scaredy cats!)

The reception area was also decorated with handmade crafts and Roz greeted the Phantoms with a friendly smile. She took all of the Phantoms information including their insurance cards and led them to the “Chair”.

It was time for their visit with Dr. Ron Lippitt. Dr. Lippitt made the Phantoms dentist visit a pleasant experience. He made them feel at ease with his gentle ways and quick humor.

Luckily, the Phantoms had no cavities and left with picture perfect smiles!

Homewood Suites by Hilton

The Phantoms found the Homewood Suites by Hilton to be cool and inviting on a very hot day.

The Phantoms were immediately welcomed by the friendly staff in the lobby. This visit was off to a great start! The staff was very knowledgeable about the hotel and fun attractions in the area.

The lobby and guest rooms were comfortable and pleasantly decorated. The hotel provides guests with breakfast 7 days a week and a light dinner Monday through Thursday.  The Phantoms decided to visit on the perfect day – chicken fajitas were on the menu for the night!

The Phantoms also discovered, weather permitting, that hamburgers and hotdogs were cooked on the outdoor grill. But you can't forget  about the ever popular Italian night!

The Homewood Suites by Hilton has a number of fully handicapped accessible rooms for guests. It is a great convenience for people whose homes are not outfitted for their temporary or long term physical needs.

The hotel also offers many great amenities to their  new and returning guests. The Phantoms had a pleasant visit and gave the Homewood Suites by Hilton in Warwick five stars!

Carol's Country Corner Gift Shop

Located in the heart of Apponaug, Carol’s Country Corner Gift Shop is a little piece of heaven with an intoxicating smell that reminded the Phantoms of cinnamon, apples, and sugar cookies.

Upon entering, Carol was actually walking out to help a customer but politely acknowledged the Phantoms and let them know she would be right with them…..now that’s customer service!

Walking through the four rooms of unique country gifts and home decorations allowed the Phantoms to realize they were truly in a special place.

Handcrafted furniture, lamps, shades, candles, and quilts are some of the many wonderful pieces in the Store. And for those Christmas lovers, Carol has a year round Christmas room for your holiday pleasures during any season!

The Phantoms agreed that Carol's is a wonderful piece of historic Apponaug.

At 8:00am the Phantoms hoped they would beat the morning coffee rush. Much to their dismay, the parking lot was full and the drive-through line seemed very long. The deciding factor behind whether or not the Phantoms would go inside for their morning jolt was a game of “rocks, paper, scissors, shot”.

Winning 3 out of 5 games, the Phantoms took their Starbucks experience inside!

The Starbucks atmosphere always seems to have a calming effect on their patrons…. this was no exception for the Phantoms. Although it was very busy, the Phantoms did not wait long at all to taste their coffee drink of choice. The staff works very much in sync.

As the Phantoms glanced out the window they noticed how quickly the drive through line was moving!  Ahhh.. they could have stayed inline.

But after settling into one of the many comfortable chairs, the Phantoms enjoyed some causal conversation and coffee before heading to the Chamber to report their pleasantly delicious findings!

Signs By Tomorrow

The Chamber Phantoms strike again - this time, the Phantoms traveled down Route 2 with the intent to visit a business called Signs by Tomorrow. After parking, the Phantoms couldn’t help but notice a very colorful truck of blues and reds. It was the Signs by Tomorrow mobile!

The Phantoms knew they were in the right place. Phantom #2 wondered if they would be able to take it for a spin, but joy riding in the Signs by Tomorrow mobile was not the task the Chamber had asked them to perform.

Time to get down to business!

Greeted by one of the owners, the Phantoms thought this visit was off to a great start! The collection of display signs and examples found in the store was interesting to the Phantoms. The LCD photo slide show of jobs performed by Signs by Tomorrow was a great addition by the owners.

One Phantom was interested in creating a Beware of Dog sign for his front lawn while the other Phantom wanted to learn more about the display board Signs by Tomorrow could create for an upcoming tradeshow.

The staff helped each Phantom with choosing the appropriate height and width of the sign as well as the appropriate color and font.

The Phantoms were pleased to report they had a great visit at Signs by Tomorrow and Phantom # 2 even enjoyed a ride in the Signs by Tomorrow mobile!

The Phantoms would like to know - What's your sign? Find out at Signs by Tomorrow!

Mmmmmm
Smell that sweet aroma of dough!  There's nothing like walking by the water on a sunny day with the breeze blowing in your hair and smelling all the yummy food just waiting for you to bite into.  Yes it's a doughboy, and boy was it delicious.  You should try one!  Freshly sprinkled with sugar - just shake the bag and dive in.  I suppose I should have had lunch first... clam cakes, chowder, a hamburger, a hot dog, nice fresh crisp french fries, or fish & chips made with fresh cod, or any of the many items available and made to order. Did you know they have lots of fresh salads and sandwiches to choose from too?  Meatballs, steak & cheese, sausage and peppers... I guess I'll just have to go back for dinner.  Want to join me?

Since the Celtics won the NBA Championship – the Phantoms thought it would be a great opportunity to visit a location where they could stock up on some championship gear and maybe add some Red Sox t-shirts to the purchases!

Upon entering, the phantoms were pleased with the store’s organization and large selection of sporting goods. The Celtics gear was in the front of the store and the prices were just right!  After making some choices, the Phantoms couldn’t help but notice the large selection of Red Sox gear.  Papelbon and Drew were among the Phantoms t-shirt purchases... hey, baseball season is in full swing!

The Modell’s staff also added to a pleasant visit. The Phantoms were welcomed once they entered the store and asked if they needed help.

Modell's is also a great place to get some of that outdoor amusement for summer cookouts like a volleyball net or horseshoes!

The Phantoms agree - Gotta go to Mo's!!!!!
